"This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes this day will be gone forever; in its place is something you have left behind. . . Let it be something good."

Being a bit more bloggery.

Is there such a word as bloggery? Well anyway, it struck me during the C'mas holidays that I could blog a bit more than I do. I really love reading blogs and would like mine to be enjoyed by others too.

During the past few days I have been excused from doing normal things, basically because anytime I started to talk or move I would begin to cough so alarmingly that no one could tell what I was saying anyway. So I have been cocooned in my chair with my feet on the footstool wrapped up in crochet blankets, catching up on the hundreds of blogs in my faves list and looking for more that interest me.

For the first time today I woke up without the aching in my ears and actually slept all night long without waking the household with my barking.

Just before C'mas I went to John Lewis - it will always be Cole Brothers to those in Sheffield - and bought this 1.5 mtr of this material to use as a tablecloth in the kitchen. I love it, its bright, its lifting and I smile everytime I go into the kitchen. Are we supposed to call it 'oilcloth' these days? A piece of PVC doesn't really sound too green... Well whatever, I love it anyway.

So I was not just surfing the web while feeling poorly, I was actually crocheting too.

Dan, now has a paper round, he shares it with his mate and they do a week each, plus he has a Sunday round too. Crickey have you ever felt a bag of Sunday papers? I am sure it can't be good for his back!

Anyway back to the crocheting, "mum can you make me some fingerless gloves please?" Not a problem I scoured ravelry for a pattern, looked through books and sort of cobbled two patterns together. Daniel at 14 has the most enormous hands, I tried these things on when I had finished and they swamp my hands, my fingers don't even go to the end and my hands are not the feminine tiny type either. Sorry it's not a brilliant photograph, but he loves them, they are great when he is trying to get the papers out of the bag, as normal gloves tend to slip on them.

I also made my mum a pair of lacy fingerless gloves, her hands get very cold when she sits in bed and reads at night. So the first night she wore them I went into her room to say goodnight and just happened to say "very Miss Haversham... " I did duck as the box of tissues hit the wall! Was told in no uncertain terms "I might be 90 but I'm not old!" I coughed and laughed my way to bed. Well then blogfriends, thats it for today. I've got a couple of things on the go and I need to get them finished before tomorrow so that I can blog again. I might even get the hang of this blogging thing sooner or later.
Have fun,
Rosie x

Oh dear, so sorry you have been feeling ill - that dreadful bug I got just before Christmas and coughed and hacked my way through the festivities - so exhausting - do hope you will feel better soon. Love both sets of mittens - your Mum has a good sense of humour:) Like the new look, too.

Rosie,
So sorry to hear you have been ill...and to hear of your problems with the 'black dog'. What an apt metaphor. There apparently was a rather large and far-reaching litter, as I've had my own bout with the breed in 2008.

Here's wishes for better days ahead in 2009 filled with warmth and peace.

Missing you lots - will try to stay better connected.

Hope you are feeling better soon, the last few months it seems as soon as Ive stopped coughing I start feeling flu-ee (thats not a word??) again. Ive never known anything like it. Mr Kitten used to do 2 paper rounds when he was a kid on a sunday, his first one was in a less desirable area so just the usual tabloid papers, but the second was up the road in the 'posh' houses and they read the The Times etc so they were full of supplements and magazines, and he said his back used to hurt. He used to do the round on his skateboard!!! LOL! Oh how I love the 1970's........dont get me started on roller boots!! LOL!X

Hi Rosie ~ Nice to "meet" you, and thanks so much for stopping by my blog. What a beautiful part of the world you live in - my husband hails from not too far away (Lancashire) and we keep saying someday we'll get over there. :)

And you're on Ravelry as well? Me too! (kingofmicestudios)...

Love your work!
